Ammonia Properties, Density, and Specific Weight
Density
The density of liquid ammonia at atmospheric pressure and various temperatures is as follows:
- -50 to 425 °C (-50 to 800 °F): 682 kg/m³ (250 K)
- -50 to 425 °C (-50 to 800 °F): 669 kg/m³ (300 K)
- -50 to 425 °C (-50 to 800 °F): 600 kg/m³ (400 K)
- -50 to 425 °C (-50 to 800 °F): 346 kg/m³ (boiling point)
Specific Weight
The specific weight of liquid ammonia at boiling point and 1013 bar (10.3 MPa) is 682 kg/m³ (250 K).
Other Properties
Liquid ammonia has the following properties:
- Raw energy density: 115 MJ/L (about a third that of diesel)
- Can be converted back to hydrogen for use as fuel
